Be a "Pencil" Pusher: Developing Community Through Local Literature

Sadto usad na article, I wrote about how the celebrated Official Student Publication of the Nabua National High School has been making quite an impression in the national scene with their competitive edge in journalism. It is already official that Pencil -- once the darling publication of our town -- is actually now a national class act. On their first try (yes first time even to join) in the recent National Secondary Schools Press Conference, Pencil caught the attention of the judges who awarded them third, just behind two giant schools. Not bad for a teenie-weenie, rural, agriculural-town high school. We gave Philippine Science High School a good run for their money. Rock star status if you ask me. Go Nabua!

This is possible because of the talent, skill and panache of the student journalists and the able leadership of Dr. Lilibeth Fajardo-Moralde. This is one of the reasons why we at Yaba sa Nabua are passionate about supporting them. We want to buy each of the five high school editors a laptop (plus a Pencil camera 16 megapixels).

Check nyo po su feature on that fundraiser by clicking HERE.

But this article is not about these laptops but about regular publication. Isi ninyo once a year sana sira mag publish ta uda sira pondo. They are bleeding because of this -- bleeding precious, talented blood. Kin agko kintana sira quarterly publication they can gather some of their best features, stories and others para sadto pang competition nira.

Here's the deal I am proposing: IF WE CAN HELP THEM FINANCIALLY TO PUBLISH TWO  QUARTERLY BROADSHEETS (IN NEWSPRINT PAPER) AND ONE COMPETITION QUALITY BROADSHEET THIS YEAR & 2013, WE WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR NABUENYO COMMUNITY.

Ungaon ninyo kin saamno? Good you asked. Agko ko amigo na sira magpi-print ku mga novena ag iba pang religious literature na distributed sa Philippines and abroad. Tinawan niya ko sa quotation:
